Here I read “Piotrek’s Field,” the opening dispatch from Katy Bentall’s forthcoming Greenwriting (BWolves, May), a collection of prose and poetry, drawings and watercolors all about a patch of the Polish countryside. Katy describes passing by the neighbor’s fields on her ritual walk along the top of an embankment, providing the reader with separate sets of observations at two seasonal junctures: Autumn into Winter and Spring into Summer.
